John Keeble and Tony Hadley first played together in a school music room in 1976. The band the formed became, after several line-up and name changes, Spandau Ballet. The 1980's saw the band have great success around the globe, selling millions of records and performing to huge audiences including the seminal Live Aid in 1985. By 1990 however, the band had started to implode and ceased to be a working unit. The discovery of unpaid royalties then led John and Tony to the High Courts to recover them. This situation remains unresolved.
Through the 90's John continued to work with Tony, both in the studio and on the road and was also involved in many other musical collaborations. These include playing with his old friend Fish and forming the bands 69 Daze, The Herbs and pacific, the latter featuring the sadly departed John McGeoch.
With Tony's popularity always on the increase the last five years have been fairly hectic and throughout most of his career his loyal band have remained unchanged.
John, Richie, Phil and Phil have over many years become a most formidable unit coping with Tony's ever expanding repertoire which embraces such a wide musical landscape. Last year John, together with Richie B. and CPD, formed his own band called 'I PLAY ROCK'. For more info on albums and shows please go to ; www.iplayrock.biz
Outside of music John is happily married to Flea and they have a 16 year old daughter, Jaime.
John is a lifelong Arsenal supporter and gets very shouty when they lose. John would describe his career as "Hitting things with other Things" and "Thirty years of looking at Tony Hadley's arse ……….".
Never forget how great you are.
